tough time

I had some tough time today on site. Mainly because the sub-contractors weren’t listen to me, they just do what they want, and it turned up all wrong.

The school headmistress were approaching us when the whiteliners were marking the letters and road marking, she wasn’t impressed the way the letters laid and wanted to tilt the angle and bring it down to the road. I tried to explain to her by doing so the drivers won’t be able to see the letters as the letters face away from drivers. I’ve tried to talk her through in engineering point of view, hoping we could work a way out to compromise, but she just stormed off. What a moment.

Then the marking on the car park went horribly wrong, it wasn’t suppose to be thermoplastic, it supposed to be paint for health and safety reasons! Arghh… I must admit part of the responsibilites was on me because I missed out some details.

I also had problems with the road hump material, the whiteliner told me they couldn’t do it, and at the same time, the linings were out of position, and there were a lot of decisions for me to make, there was a certainly a huge pressure.
I had to call my project manager out to sort all the problems. It made me look stupid in front of everybody.
Too many things went wrong today, if I were more experienced and plan a step forward, those shouldn’t be happened!

However, this site experience is certainly very precious for my future devepment.

i always knew the importance of experience
that’s why i’ve been fighting to this site experience

many people only get to supervise site job after 2-3 years, mainly because we don’t really get this kinda site job often..

i am lucky to supervise a site just after 6 months ;)
