The wait had finally over on Friday the 9th of Nov, I didn’t have the chance to see one on the day it first launched but I went to check out this afternoon and I must say I love it. The look and the feel of iPhone in my hand is amazing, it doesn’t look as big as I thought. I checked out the acclaimed touch screen and keyboard, and I am impressed!

It makes me really want one, but will I get one NOW? No.

There are a few things niggle me, enough to stop me making a purchase just yet.

Firstly, you have to activate the phone through iTunes and to activate it, you will need to enter into an 18 months minimum term contract with O2.

Secondly, the cost. How much is it going to cost? It is selling at £269 in the UK and tied with 18 months contract. The cheapest will cost you £35 a month, that’s £630 in total! (Ouch!)

Okie, for some of you, splash out £900 for this cool gadget is probably nothing, you’ll get the usual free minutes and texts, on top of that, you can surf free with more than 7500 hotspots in UK, but wait, read on.

Thirdly, this is the important part, always read the small prints!

Your O2 tariff for iPhone allows you unlimited use of O2 UK’s Edge/GPRS networks and The Cloud’s UK Wireless LAN network, for personal internet use, email and Visual Voicemail (VVM) on your iPhone only. All usage must be for your private, personal and non-commercial purposes. You may not use your SIM Card in any other device, or use your SIM Card or iPhone to allow the continuous streaming of any audio/video content, enable P2P or file sharing or use them in such a way that adversely impacts the service to other O2 customers. If O2 reasonably suspect you are not acting in accordance with this policy O2 reserves the right to impose further charges or disconnect your tariff at any time, having attempted to contact you first.

More!

iPhone is restricted to use on the O2 network. To continue to use all the functions of your iPhone you must remain connected to your iPhone tarrif. If you cancel your iPhone tariff only the iPod fuction on your iPhone will work. If you attempt to use your iPhone on any other network for example by replacing the SIM card, this may mean your iPhone becomes permanently unusable.

So if I decided to leave O2 after the 18 months contract, my iPhone will become an iPod touch, or if I swap to other network, my iPhone will becomes permanently unusable?

And if I purchase the phone for business purpose, which means I can’t even check my email?

Hmmm….I would love to have one, but not at £900, I think I’ll just stick with my next target, the LG Viewty or Nokia E81.

Thanks to my girl friend for giving my such a wonderful Christmas present, I’ve finally made a switch from dull PC.

I used to use her iBook, on occasional basis, I always knew it has a cool design and easy to use, but I never knew that it was so DAMN easy to use.

Installing a programme? Just open it or download it, then drag the icon to the Application folder, phuah, that’s it, done. Uninstalling a programme? Easy, just drag it to the bin, phooh, that’s it, done.

Bye bye to the old fashioned wizards, you won’t see it in Mac OS X. Oppss, sorry I made a mistake, you do see the wizards, only in Microsoft Office for Mac or softwares which were meant for Windows only. hmmm.

Okie, I have to admit, I am crazy about Apple. there are so many reasons to like them. Their ads (Hello I’m Mac, and I’m PC…), the sleek design, the huge vision of Steve Jobs, everything. Aren’t they just make our computer and life beautiful? After all, who doesn’t want a Apple product?

My next target will be the iPhone.

I couldn’t get to watch Steve’s Keynote due to excessive demand.

Will write about iPhone next!

Apple is determined to hit the mp3 player market today by launching all new iPods, including iPod Video, iPod nano and iPod Shuffle. Apple not just improve the capacity and battery life of the iPods, even better news for comsumers, they are cheaper!!

Most of the players are thinner with better life battery and more capacities. I am not going to details. You can find out more in Apple.com

This is what interested me, iTunes 7 that enable us to download movies. (Photos below grabbed from apple.com, but you still be able to “Click to Download”)

iTunes 7 is announced alongside with the new mp3 players, you can now download movie from iTunes, though only about 70+ movies available for download at the moment. The resolution of the movie is 640 x 480 with near DVD quality. At from $9.99 a movie, it is not expensive to own your favorite movies (I am talking bout true legal copy!), but don’t get exciting yet, the service is only available in US for the time being.

The forthcoming “iTV”, a set top box, stream wirelessly with a plethora of connectivity options to your home Television. In another word, you can watch your downloaded movies in your 60″ Plasma if your 12″ MacBook is making your eye sore.

I always love Apple, Apple is the driving force in evolution of mainstream technology yet without sacrificing the design.

Looking forward to the Leopard.

Apple launched the highly acclaimed Mighty Mouse today, this time without the tail and named wireless Mighty Mouse.

Apart from the obvious distinction of the wireless mouse being, ermmm, wireless, it also uses laser tracking technology rather than the optical tracking found in its wired brother. The laser tracking is 20 times the performance of standard optical tracking.

The mouse is powered by one or two (you decide) AA batteries, and it require Mac OS X 10.4.6 or later. The wireless mouse introduced today, nearly a year after the wired Mighty, is selling at $69 or £49.

What took them nearly a year to produce a wireless mouse? Hmmm. Anyway, now I have one more strong reason to go for wireless keyboard and mouse when I get my iMac (still a long way to go).
